Questions you should ask!!!!

If you are anything like us, your animals are not just your pets,
but are family members,
then wouldn’t you want “Nothing but the Best” for your family!

That is why Tarraray Pet Retreat was designed and built
with what we wanted for our pets
no wire runs on bare concrete here.

At Tarraray Pet Retreat we want to provide “Nothing but the Best”
for your four legged family!

Here is a list of questions we have compiled based on our own needs as pet owners.
There may be some areas that are of greater or lesser importance to you and your pet.

I’m quite sure we all want what is best for our pet while we are away and
Tarraray Pet Retreat will try and fulfil all your needs.

It is our hope that this list gives you a point of reference to which you can build
your own questions upon and that we are only too happy to answer.

  • The very first question and probably the most important one in determining whether or not you will even need to go any further is:
Can you go in and have a tour of their facilities and meet the staff? If a tour is not offered……well I think we would both agree that is definitely a red flag and it’s time to move on to the next boarding facility. When choosing a boarding facility, look at where your cat or dog will be sleeping and ensure you have a full inspection of the whole facility. Make sure that both the sleeping quarters and exercise areas are of adequate size and that they are separated from other animals properly.

At Tarraray you are more than welcome to inspect our premises any time during opening hours. You can see not only quarters in the cattery and kennels, but also all our excercise areas. Together with this you can view our grooming rooms, holding areas, laundry and kitchen.

  • Ensure that the facilities are fully secure and air-conditioned

Tarraray is fully reverse cycle air conditioned. All doors to the premises are security coded.
A large automatic gate is being placed at the front of the premises. The owners and their Belgian Shepherds reside on the premises.

  • Check what the facility feeds and ensure that they will meet any special requirements that your pet may have.

Tarraray feeds our canine guests a combination of dry and barf diet (this is meals of rice or pasta with veggies and chicken mince). We do not feed cheap brand products and our guests receive the same meals as our dog family show dogs. If your pet is on its own special diet we are happy to feed your meals as requested. However, if your pet requires a special diet, our trained staff will follow your instructions to make sure your pet follows their regular diet. By pre-bagging each meal in a separate bag labelled with your pet's name, your pet will receive the exact amount of food that you feed him or her at home.
Our feline guests are fed a combination of Whiskas Dry and give our guests the choice of either quality tinned tuna or a wide range of fresh meats and chicken.

  • Does the facility request that your animals are fully vaccinated in the appropriate time frames?

Tarraray is extremely strict on this policy.
To ensure the full protection of all pets staying at the Retreat each one MUST be fully vaccinated. Verification that vaccinations have been completed is required and we ask you to present concurrent certificates, before or at, the time of boarding for all new boarders. Dogs and cats that have not been previously vaccinated MUST have C5 Vaccination 14 days prior to entry and cats an F3. All annual vaccinations MUST be completed at least 7 days prior to commencement of boarding and verification must be presented upon entry. All animal must be on current flea & tick prevention (Advantix, Frontline, Proban). Please note Comfortis and supermarket treatments are not acceptable.

  • Are the beds they provide for the animals extra thick and plush to give your pet a warm, cosy, secure feeling just like home?

Tarraray cattery has childs furniture. The dog rooms have hammock beds, Perla dog beds with blankets or human beds in 5 star suites.

  • Is their staff made up of “True Animal Lovers”? A staff that truly loves animals! You want to know that they will treat your pet with as much love as you do.

Tarraray staff are true animal lovers!!! Come and meet us - we care so much the animals get more attention than you the customer.

  • Do they provide the option of a one-on-one playtime with your pet and a staff member daily?

Not only does Tarraray offer one on one human playtime, we also offer Yappy Time with fur friends.

  • Will your pet be exercised more than once daily and be safe and secure from other animals during this time?

Tarraray exercises  two to three times a day individually (unless from the same family), therefore making your pets secure from others at all times. We do give the option for one on one or yappy time for you as well. So many options you don't get elsewhere.

  • Does the facility provide a full service grooming during your pets stay, where you may include a bath, haircut, and nails trimmed?

Tarraray offers a full grooming service.

  • Does the facility have a veterinarian on call to assure that your dog is in the best of health or in case of an emergency?

Tarraray Has all vets on 24 Hour Call

  • What hours is the facility open and what times are staff at the facility? A lot of establishments only have staff available morning and evening leaving pets unattended for extended periods.

Tarraray has extended hours. Even when we are closed our staff are on the premises attending to our guests from 7.30am to 6.00pm.

  • What is the security on the facility when staff are not at the premises?

All doors to the premises are security coded.
A large automatic gate is being placed at the front of the premises.
The owners and their Belgian Shepherds reside on the premises.

  • Does the facility allow me to bring my own bedding, toys and comforters for my pet?

Tarraray allows this and all is washed ready for your pet to go home with you.

  • Last, but not least, will they be sure and give your pet lots of ‘belly rubs’ and 'cuddles', all the while going the extra mile to provide the highest quality care possible?

    Tarraray definately does!!!!!

Remember that when dropping your dog or cat off at the dog boarder; try not to be too emotional. Your pet will feed off of your emotions and it will make an anxious time even worse.
